A Better Lunge/Split Squat for Healthier Knees

A First YouTube Video for Ray and Pinnacle Rehab and Performance.

This video goes through a few very important cues for a lunge and split squat - which can also prove very beneficial for squats and other lower limb exercises.

But why is it important that we do it this way?

  1. Getting more out of our quadricep and lower limb muscles.

    1. To often with knee pain - we stop bending our knee in a full ROM - which then starts affecting the strength of our quadriceps.

  2. Gets us to co-contract the muscles around the hip, knee and ankles.

    1. Important when we strike the ground for effect force transfer.

  3. Helps us learn how to develop tension and apply force into the ground.

Of course - this doesn’t mean we always start there. We can easily scale it to make it harder and easier depending on what you need.

At Pinnacle Rehab & Performance, we do things differently. Operating out of a gym, we’re built to take you beyond just being pain-free. Our approach blends rehab with performance — meaning we not only get you moving well again, but we also help you rebuild strength, restore power, and return to doing what you love at a high level. Whether you're an athlete or just want to feel and perform your best, this is where rehab meets real results. Ready to bridge the gap between recovery and performance? [Book your assessment today.]
