Knee Pain Treatment & Rehab in Melbourne
We Help Active Individuals go from pain to Pain-free and back to high performance.
01 KNEE TREATMENT
Receive Expert Movement Based Care
Knee injuries are among the most debilitating for active people.
Whether you're managing an ACL tear, dealing with persistent patellofemoral pain that flares every time you squat, or recovering from a meniscus repair — the quality of your rehabilitation determines not just whether you return to sport, but how you return.
At Pinnacle Rehab and Performance, knee rehabilitation is criteria-driven and performance-focused.
You progress through each phase when your body is objectively ready — not when a fixed number of weeks has passed.
02 HOW IT WORKS
Our Approach to Knee Injuries & Rehab/Treatment
We don't manage knee injuries in isolation. The knee is a complex joint that transfers load between the hip and ankle. Injuries often involve more than the knee itself — hip strength deficits, ankle mobility limitations, and movement pattern issues all contribute to knee pain and re-injury risk.
The Four Phases
01
Pain Reduction
Manual therapy, soft tissue work, and load modification to reduce irritability and restore basic movement
02
Restore Movement & Strength
Restoring range of motion, muscle activation, strength deficits with bi-lateral and uni-lateral strength training.
03
Power and Plyometrics
Hop-testing, landing mechanics, deceleration control, agility, change-of-direction and reactive loading.
04
Return to Activity
Sport-specific loading, training integration, and criteria-based discharge — you leave with the strength and capacity to stay injury-free
03 HOW IS IT DIFFERENT
Most clinics discharge knee patients when pain resolves. We discharge when objective strength, power, and movement criteria are met — because pain resolution does not equal sport readiness. This distinction matters most for ACL and meniscus rehab, where premature return is the primary driver of re-injury.
At Pinnacle Rehab and Performance, sessions are 60 minutes, 1-on-1, with the same clinician. You get a structured program with clear milestones delivered via our training app (TrainHeroic), and your return-to-sport goals are built into the plan from day one — not added as an afterthought.

Questions about sports chiropractic, injury management or how Pinnacle Rehab and Performance can help you? — answered directly.
-
ACL rehabilitation typically takes 9–12 months to return to competitive sport — though timelines vary based on surgical technique, sport demands, and individual response to training. The most important factor is not time elapsed, but objective criteria met. Returning before achieving limb symmetry >90% significantly increases re-injury risk.
-
Yes, in some cases — particularly for lower-grade ACL injuries or individuals with low rotational sport demands. This is called "conservative ACL management" and involves intensive rehabilitation to build compensatory stability through hamstring and hip strength. It will depend on your presentation, goals, and injury; your clinician will assess your specific injury and goals to advise accordingly.
-
Patellar tendinopathy (Jumper's Knee) is a load-related condition affecting the patellar tendon, common in jumping sports. It is not an inflammatory condition — it's a degenerative response to cumulative overload. The evidence-based treatment is progressive tendon loading, starting with isometrics and building through isotonic and plyometric exercises. Passive treatment alone (massage, electrotherapy) does not resolve tendinopathy.
-
Persistent knee pain is often a sign that the underlying load deficit or movement pattern issue hasn't been adequately addressed. Many clients come to us after previous treatment hasn't produced lasting results. We take a thorough assessment approach — looking at the knee within the context of the whole lower limb and movement system — to identify what's actually driving the pain.
-
A sports chiropractor has training and experience focused on musculoskeletal injuries in active individuals and athletes. At Pinnacle Rehab and Performance, this is combined with a strength and conditioning background — meaning rehabilitation is performance-integrated from day one, not just pain management. Sessions focus on load, movement quality, and sport-specific capacity, not passive treatment alone.
-
The key difference is the integration of clinical and evidence-based chiropractic care with a genuine strength and conditioning background — and the structure of sessions.
Every appointment is 60 minutes, 1-on-1, with the same clinician. Rehabilitation is structured across clear phases with objective milestones, with the goal of full return to sport and performance — not just pain relief.
-
Yes. Online rehab consultations are available for those outside Melbourne or who prefer remote access.
